Spy agency tracked passengers for days through free Wi-Fi at major Canadian airport: report | National Post

OTTAWA — Canada’s electronic eavesdropping agency reportedly tracked the movements of thousands of travellers and their mobile devices by using information gleaned from free internet service at a major Canadian airport.

The CBC is reporting the revelation is contained in a top secret document retrieved by U.S. whistleblower Edward Snowden.

The network says the document indicates the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC) was given information on wireless devices that connected to the airport’s free Wi-Fi system over a two-week period from a “Canadian Special Source.”
